Starting an Online Business: The Easy and Free Way.

Having location independent income, or passive online income is a huge part of being able to travel and live the lifestyle I want.  The easiest way to start is to continue to freelance or work remotely.  A lot of careers allow for this, such as graphic designers, programmers, writers, and basically any skill that can be done over the internet.  There's a chapter in my book 12 Weeks in Thailand: The Good Life on the Cheap with ideas of how to make money while living and traveling.  It was written for Thailand in specific but since it is online, you could do the same thing in Bali, Spain or South America.

Here is an example of one of my online internet websites that I make money from. It took me exactly 3 hours to make and costed me exactly zero dollars.  As in totally free.  The next step would be to test it, buy a domain name (around $10 a year) and spend a little bit of money sending traffic towards it.

Basically the website is a product that I personally use, like enough to recommend to my friends and family, and am knowledgeable about.  I am using Amazon.com's affiliate program which gives me 5%-10% of each sale.  So if I sell 10 tubs of protein, I'll get around $50.

The reason why this is a bad product to endorse is the margins are so low.  You can find another product with higher price points and higher margins that will give you 20%-40% of the sale price of $200 and up.  But this was a starter project for me and without any initial investment it gave me something to toy with.  So if you're going to buy ON Protein Powder anyways, go ahead and do it through my website, it doesn't cost you anymore than if you went directly to Amazon.com and it provides you much more research and information than Amazon's page would.

So that's what I call starting an easy, free, online business 1.0.  It won't make you a lot of money, but it's a good starting point.  The problems with it however are, for the same amount of time, energy and advertising dollars, you could be easily promoting a higher margin product such as a digital product like "How to gain 10 lbs of muscle in 10 weeks eBook" that might give you 50% of the $50 sale price.  Or you could sell a higher priced phyiscal product such as a Treadmill and get 5-10% of $500 instead of $50.

Online Business: 2.0 - How to really make money.

This is where I am now, and I feel like my eyes are opening.  The first step was meeting cool guys like Kurt from my CrossFit gym here in Chiang Mai, and Aaron, an entrepreneur who I met up for dinner last week while he was traveling through.  Hanging out with these real life successful internet entrepreneurs opened my eyes on both what is possible, but also where I should be focusing my energy.  I'm actually sitting next to Kurt right now at our favorite coffee shop aka work office as I'm blogging.  If you don't have successful people in your life yet, the best place to get started is to start listening to the Lifestyle Business Podcast on iTunes.

Now that you have the motivation and right mindset, it's time to start your internet business.  There are forums and websites and tons of free information on how to get started.  But unfortunately, like most skills, too much information will actually hold you back instead of help you get started.  

One of the best things that has happened to me recently is that I met Aaron in person, saw his successful lifestyle, saw how he genuinely enjoys both what he does but also helping other people get started.  If I didn't meet him in person, I don't know if I would have trusted his product, Living the Drop Ship Lifestyle it almost sounds too good to be true.  But what it is really isn't a way to make a million dollars in 4 hours a day.  It's a step by step, hold your hand, start from the basics, mindset and mentality easy to follow training course starting with how to pick a product to sell all the way to how to automate your business.

My original plan was to just watch all of the videos and then cancel the program before having the pay for the full thing, but honestly, after watching just module 1, I realized that this product is worth more than a $10,000 MBA Program and 2 hours of Business School.  

I'm glad I signed up for the program and will be keeping it and actually doing the homework after each section instead of just blasting through.  I honestly think this is something that will boost my online business skills from 1.0 to 2.0 and finally generate some real money instead of the pocket change I'm used to.  After watching the first video, I realized how BIG of a MISTAKE choosing Protein Powder was for my niche product.  Check out his product and let's all make money and build online businesses together:  Anton's Method the: Drop Ship Lifestyle e-Commerce Training Course
