Helping my friend Elaine start an Online Business - The Step by Step Advice I Gave Her.

I just got off a long facebook chat with my friend Elaine from back home in California.  She's been working for the same company ever since I left my "normal" life back in Los Angeles five years ago to start traveling and live the 4-hour workweek.  I had told her what I've been doing to make money online and about my new E-Commerce store. She had an idea for a niche product and wanted my input on it.  I'm always happy to help my friends gain freedom and enjoy life so I offered to help.

First I made her do some homework.  Which you can do as well if you think have an idea for a product or a category of products to sell online.

Step 1. Make a list of 10 online retailer stores that carry the product.  (I forgot to mention to her not to include stores like amazon, target, sears, overstock, kmart.  But instead only online stores that possibly don't have a warehouse and use drop shipping)

Step 2. Look at the brands they carry and make a list of all of them along with their website addresses.

Step 3. Check each one to see if they drop ship.

(Drop Shipping is having the manufacture of the product ship directly to your customer so you don't have to keep stock, inventory, or have a store/warehouse)

VERY IMPORTANT - Do not call or email the manufacturer about drop shipping or submit any dealer applications until you've already set up a legitimate company and website.

How to get started:

First is setup a Shopify Store - there's a 14 day free trial to get you started. No credit card needed.

Second is to set it up to look like you are already in business and have been in years. This is done through credibility indicators, setting up the FAQ, About Us Page, Contact Us Page, Shipping and Returns Policies, etc.

Third is to sign up for $75 in free Amazon Product Ads trial to test if your products will sell.
After your business is setup completely, looks legitimate, and you have products that you know will sell, then it's time to contact the manufactures and ask to become dealers.

I realized then that there were a million little things in between each step that I didn't have time to mention to Elaine and I knew Anton and the videos could do it better. So even though I felt a little bad telling my friend to buy a product, I knew it was the easier and better way for her to learn all of this.

Plus the good thing about Anton's site is he outlines it step by step so all you have to do is pause, do it, pause, do it, pause, do it, and you're done. He even gives you templates for all of the shipping and return policies and etc so you can just copy and paste it. That being said, I'm going to give you the same advice I gave my good friend Elaine. Just pay the $5 and buy the membership.  (She ended up buying it and stayed up all night working on her new website)

You can always watch all of the videos and cancel before the trial ends if you wanted to. But for most people if you're serious about wanting to make money online, it'll be well worth it.

P.S. Elaine also asked me, how do I know if this guy didn't embellish or straight up just lie about how much money he makes online from his stores. She was weary because there are so many scams on the internet. But since we've been good friends for 10 years she trusts me and my judgement.
