How to get a 200% Raise: Why I'm Starting a 2nd Store with my friend Adam
https://www.johnnyfd.com/2013/09/how-to-get-200-raise-why-im-starting.html
When I worked a normal corporate job, getting a 10% annual raise was awesome yet hard to come by. Usually you had to work towards a promotion or switch companies to make more money. But I think I may have just found a way to double my income completely and it all started by helping out a friend.
In the past 6 weeks since I've been back in the U.S. a lot of my friends have been calling me up asking for my help with their e-commerce stores. After seeing my success with Anton's method people realized how much they hated their own jobs and that there was finally a legitimate alternative. I've been giving advice and helping out as much as I could, but then I realized something.
I'm really fucking lazy. The only reason why I learned how to become Mr. Shortcut in the first place was because I was too lazy to dedicate to anything and work hard. The only reason why I worked so hard to create my store was because I was down to $70 in my bank account, and was soon to be, completely broke. I had a fire lit under my ass and needed to get my site profitable and quick.
The reason why I've been so terrible at starting a 2nd E-Commerce store even though my first is already on autopilot is because I haven't really had any motivation or drive to.
My friend Adam however, has a fire lit under him. He started his Commerce store within days of learning Anton's method and has his site completely up and running within a week. I've never seen anyone do it that quickly before. He took 2 weeks off of his normal job to fully dedicate to building the store and is due to start work again next Monday.
He's made 4 sales so far and it's only been 2 weeks. However, after asking me to look though his site, we realized that even though he will make money from it, the niche he chose was too common and there was already many competitors. He was devastated and desperate. But what he didn't realize is that the desperation is exactly what gets you going and excels you to succeed. If he was comfortable, it's easy to get lazy. He however hates his job and really doesn't want to go back.
Adam asked me to help him, and even offered to pay me $500 to sit down, look through his site and optimize it. Instead, I told him, I don't want to take your money, let's just make another site together and split it 50/50. I've tried this with a couple other friends recently, kind of half-assing it really working and I feel awful about it, but then I realized why it hasn't worked with anyone else.
The reasons why it has been successful with Adam:
1. He already went through the course and built the first store on his own. So he understands the process, the big picture and just needs help picking the right niche and optimizing everything effectively.
2. He has a lot of free time. For the past three days, I've went to his apartment and we've sat side by side at Panera Bread Co. and in his tiny apartment and worked on the site together.
3. He's driven and motivated. It turns out I am terrible at self motivating but somehow really good at doing the work and the big picture overall.
Having Adam sit next to me and constantly asking, "What's next" has gotten us finished with the following things in just 3 days!

Having Adam sit next to me and constantly asking, "What's next" has gotten us finished with the following things in just 3 days!
- Chose a niche
- Made a site
- Created a spiffy looking logo
- Wrote all of the FAQs
- Shipping Policies
- About Us
- Contact pages
- Applied and Received a Federal Tax ID
- Obtained a Califorinia Reseller's Certificate
- Uploaded sample products
- Contacted Manufactures
- Filled out Applications
- Got Approved by 4 Companies which we are now Authorized Dealers for
- Uploaded Live Products to our Site
We're taking the weekend off but next week we plan on contacting and getting approved by two more manufactures, starting out ad campaign and hopefully getting our first sale! In the meantime both Adam and I are continuing to make sales and managing our separate stores, but I have a feeling that with our powers combined, this will be a fun, profitable venture with the fastest startup time in history.
Once this site is up and running, I'm going to hopefully use some of the momentum and help my two other friends get their stores up, running and profitable as well. I would love it if all of my close friends had location independent businesses that they could manage from anywhere. This would allow all of us to travel, enjoy life and continue to motivate each other wherever in the world we are. Oh and to those who are curious on how to double your income with E-Commerce stores? It's pretty simple, each store takes 4-8 weeks to set up, another month or two to optimize, automate and after that you basically only need to spend 20 minutes a day on each store to keep it going, freeing up your time to start a second or even a third store, essentially doubling your income.
If you haven't checked out how I started my first store yet, all the details are in the post entitled "Start Here" which can also be found on the right hand side of my blog.
Update: Check out Adam Jacobson's fitness blog.
Good luck to everyone in your journey's,
Warm Regards,

brilliant post jhonny. i have been following your posts and podcast for some time now.nice to see how your progressing. and picking up some great tips to start my own journey hopefully. btw is this system only for USA or do you know any one from the UK who has done this. any help appreciated
ReplyDeletekeep up the good work
Hey Nayar, glad you have been following along. Anton's Method works for the UK as well, although there are far less drop ship suppliers there. We have a couple guys in the course who have found suppliers and started making sales. The benefits to the barrier to entry are that ad prices are lower and competition is lower. So personally I think it's a GREAT time to start in the UK but only if you are willing to put in 3 weeks to look for suppliers vs. 3 days in the US.
