The Importance of Health and Mindset for Success

I just wanted to take a minute to reflect on how important health and the right mentality is for success and overall happiness. One of greatest strengths and weaknesses of long term travelers or digital nomads is their independance. The upside of that is putting yourself first, and doing what you want regardless of what society, social norms or others say or think.
The downside to it is the potential to have a lack of compassion or empathy for others, and not having people you can count on when things go rough. Having the right balance of being able to drop everything on a dime and move to the next country on a whim, and having deep rooted connections and genuine friends and relationships is the key to long term success and happiness as a location independent entrepreneur. Keep reading for my thoughts and tips that I've picked up along the way.
Even though we try to be grateful of everything we have and have accomplished on a daily basis, after accidentally getting food poisoning over the weekend it has reminded us even more how important our health is. In the seven years I've been traveling around Thailand and SE Asia this is the first time I've ever gotten food poisoning, the only other time was 12 years ago while having California Rolls in the U.S.
I eat street food daily, brush my teeth with tap water, and have never gotten sick from it. I could say that you should alway avoid eating uncooked vegetables while traveling, as we most likely got it from a Chicken Ceasar salad that we split, but at the end of the day it was just bad luck. It was a devastating night and day of being sick in our hotel room, but we're both completely okay now.
What we took away from it most is how we felt at our most vulnerable state. There were some people that we could count on to show compassion and empathy while others that would bring in a dark cloud of negativity.
To be successful in life:
1. Know who you are, what your goals are, and work towards what you think will make you happy, regardless of what others may say or how they may try to scare you away from it.
2. Be virtuous, live a morally excellent life and if you can't help others at least don't step on them while they're down.
3. Be grateful everyday of the gifts you have, the relationships you share, and most importantly for being healthy and alive.
Life will always have its ups and downs, but the people we surround ourselves with and having a positive mindset will ultimately lead to the greatest success in the long run.
The best way to deal with people that are pessimistic, negative, victim blamers, or trolls is to simply ignore them. They can sit back and watch as you live an extraordinary life.
Best wishes to everyone's health and happiness,
Warm Regards,
Johnny
